Marché de Gros Lyon-Corbas

Official Partner

The Marché de Gros Lyon-Corbas, France’s leading private wholesale market specialising in fruit and vegetables, has been supporting the World Burger Contest since its first edition in 2019. Its commitment to the competition reflects the values upheld by all food sectors in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region: quality, seasonality, hard work, creativity, innovation and the fight against food waste.

Located in the Corbas agri-food zone, the Marché de Gros Lyon-Corbas is a key player in the food industry throughout the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region. It specialises in fruits and vegetables and sells 280,000 tonnes of goods a year, generating sales of over €420 million. Serving as a catchment area for 49 departments, it supplies more than 2,240 professional customers, 88% of whom are from the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region: retailers, greengrocers, the food trades, wholesalers and semi-wholesalers, associations, central purchasing bodies, etc. To meet their needs, 23 wholesalers and 60 producers, 97% of whom are from the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region, work on a 12-hectare site.

A supporter from the outset, the Marché de Gros Lyon-Corbas is actively involved in promoting regional produce, in particular through the “Ma Région, Ses Terroirs” brand and almost fifty certified fruits and vegetables.

An exemplary figure in the fruit and vegetable sector and a leader among European wholesale markets, the Marché de Gros Lyon-Corbas is committed to Sustainable Development and Quality, notably through FeL Partenariat for wholesalers (a unique approach specific to the fruit and vegetable sector to better respond to the specificities of the sector and the expectations of consumers in terms of food safety and social responsibility) and for the producers Global Gap, HVE, AgriConfiance, ZRP (Zero Pesticide Residue), Vergers Ecoresponsables, Agriculture Bio & Raisonnée, ISO, etc.

Involved in a number of initiatives and partnerships in Lyon and the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region, the Marché de Gros Lyon-Corbas aims to promote the Market’s activity, ensure the quality and diversity of the fruit and vegetable offer, support local trade and encourage the consumption of fruit and vegetables by all target groups: professionals, the general public, young people, millennials, etc. It regularly carries out a number of solidarity initiatives with associations and students. The Marché de Gros Lyon-Corbas is also committed to promoting the CAP Primeur qualification to encourage young people to become professionals and highlight the fruit and vegetable sector.
